Getafe continue to surprise in their second season in the top flight, Bernd Schuster's side moving back to head up the table after a 0-1 win over local rivals Atlético Madrid. It was a deserved victory though, the visitors playing the better football in the first half. Only a couple of shots from Kezman Petrov caused any problems for Luis García, and Getafe could have gone ahead had anybody been able to get on the end of a dangerous cross from Gavilán.

Getafe were still in control after the restart, with Riki in particular active down the right wing. And things didn't change even when Mario Cotelo was sent off for a late tackle on Petrov on the hour mark, Pernia coming close with a long free kick which Leo Franco and the post kept from going in. And Pernía's next free kick was the breakthrough, the defensive wall opening up to allow the ball to fly into the back of the net. Getafe had once again achieved the impossible, and only a victory by Celta tomorrow can deprive them of a return to top spot by the end of the weekend.
