Espanyol fell to a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Cádiz, and finished the weekend just a point above the relegation spots. With Tamudo back in the side the Catalans were at full strength, but they couldn't find the route to goal, Tamudo himself putting the best effort wide before the break. Enrique fired a free kick past the post at the other end, and referee Pérez Burrull turned down a penalty claim after the ball struck De Quintana on the arm in the area.

The visitors started well in the second half, Enrique bringing a good save out of Kameni. And soon afterwards Pavoni took advantage of a sleepy defence to connect with Sesma's cross and shoot under the body of the keeper. Espanyol didn't react, and a quarter of an hour later the unmarked Sesma had the easiest of tasks finding the back of the net after Lopo let Estoyanoff's cross go past him. To round off a bad night the Catalans ended with ten men when Armando Sá was shown a red card for a foul on Raúl López near the end, and the crowd booed as their side fell to their third home defeat this season.
