Real Sociedad moved away from the danger zone with a 0-1 win at Zaragoza, the first defeat of the season for Víctor Muñoz's side. The San Sebastian side had the worst away record in the league, but they went ahead from the penalty spot in the twelfth minute, Xabi Prieto converting the kick after referee Moreno Delgado considered that Uranga had been pushed by Alvaro in the area. The midfielder dedicated the goal to Kovacevic, who had returned to Serbia following the death of his mother.

The penalty had been strongly protested by the local players, but Moreno turned down a second more obvious appeal a few minutes later after Gabi Milito barged in to Nihat. Zaragoza fought back, Gabi Milito just failing to hit the target following a corner, and his brother Diego firing a shot over the bar soon after the restart. And they appeared to be in with a chance of salvaging something when Aranburu was sent off for a second bookable offence with twenty minutes still to go.

Toledo headed another dangerous cross over the bar soon afterwards, but the visitors almost increased their lead when Nihat hit the foot of the post after connecting with Gabilondo's centre. The pace was picking up though as the clock ran on, and with two minutes to go tempers were frayed as Moreno turned down a penalty appeal from the home side after Diego Milito was tackled from behind by Jauregi, Víctor Muñoz being shown the red card for insulting the referee. Zaragoza had lost, and visiting coach Amorrortu could breath a sigh of relief.
