Celta move back above Real Madrid to second place after a late 1-0 win over Espanyol. The Catalans started well after their midweek cup run, with De la Peña hitting the bar from a free kick and Luis García having a shot saved by Pinto. Kameni had to be at his best though to keep out a couple of efforts, including one from Iriney, and on the stroke of half time the visitors were left with ten men when Pochettino picked up a second yellow card.

With Kameni in excellent form, the Catalans held on for most of the second half. However with eight minutes to go the keeper could only push away a shot from substitute Jorge, and the rebound fell to David Silva for him to drive the ball into the back of the net. It was a killer blow, and Espanyol ended the day just a point above the relegation zone.
