Sevilla extended their unbeaten run in the league to five games after drawing 1-1 at Mallorca. Juande Ramos decided to rest his first choice strike pairing Saviola and Luis Fabiano for the upcoming UEFA cup match, but his side got off to a good start with Kanouté and Jordi both hitting the woodwork. But with just over half an hour gone youth international Víctor Casadesús got on the end of Tuni's cross to flick the ball past Notario and open the scoring.

Just a minute later though the Balearic Islanders were left with ten men when Fernando Navarro was sent off for a second bookable offence, and a couple of minutes after that Kepa levelled the scores when he lost his marker to head past Prats following a free kick.

Héctor Cúper waited until the second half to see how things would work out, but eventually decided to pull off his front two and defend the result. That meant that Arango was pushed further forward, and all eyes were on the duel between him and Javi Navarro after the Venezuelan midfielder was left hospitalized in the match between the two sides last season. However although the crowd gave Navarro a hard time, the two treated each other with respect and there were no incidents of note.

As the game wore on Ramos brought on more attacking players, and they were unfortunate not to win when Kanouté had a goal incorrectly disallowed for offside and then rattled the crossbar near the end. An opportunity missed for the visitors, and the point keeps Mallorca out of the relegation zone for another week.
