A late goal gave Valencia a 0-1 victory at Cádiz, ending a run of three games without a win and taking Quique Flores's side up to eighth position in the table. The locals were looking for their one hundredth win in the first division and they had the better chances early on, with Pavoni almost catching out Cañizares straight from the kick off and Marchena cutting out another effort from Oli. Mista and Villa replied for the Chés, but Oli brought a first class save out of the keeper after the strong wind carried Armando's clearance way down field.

The visitors were left with ten men twenty minutes in to the second half after Marchena was sent off for a second bookable offence, and soon afterwards Moretti had to clear an effort from Enrique off the line with the keeper beaten. Pavoni hit the crossbar on another attack with the goal gaping in front of him, but numbers were evened up when Oli was shown a red card for a hard tackle on Baraja. And with the game seemingly heading for a draw, a long free kick from Vicente bounced past Armando and in to the net for the winning goal.
