Deportivo edged into the last UEFA cup spot after a 0-3 win over Racing Santander in the last match of the evening, a result which also leaves the Cantabrians down in the bottom three. Diego Tristán started things off with just over a quarter of an hour gone, getting a touch to Capdevila's cross which then went in off Neru. Aganzo had headed wide just before the goal, and Felipe Melo had a shot cleared off the line by Héctor soon afterwards. But seven minutes in to the second half Deportivo scored again, Valerón headed a Munitis free kick over the head of Aouate and in off the post, again a Racing defender Moratón helping the ball in to the net. Substitute Taborda headed a third from Héctor's cross a quarter of an hour from the end, and although Melo brought a late save out of Molina as the Cantabrians threw everything forward, the match was more than over by then.
