Getafe returned to winning ways after only picking up one point in twelve, beating Málaga 3-2 to stay three points away from the UEFA spots. Bernd Schuster's side were up against a team who had won their last four games, but with Luis Aragonés watching from the stands (and Formula one champion Fernando Alonso), Riki almost caught out Arnau with an early lob from outside of the area. Anderson Silva brought a good save out of Calatayud at the other end though, and a few minutes later Nacho put the visitors ahead after picking up a cross from Hidalgo.

Four minutes later though the home side were level, Paunovic beating Arnau at the second attempt. And before half time they were in front, Gerardo turning a cross from Güiza in to his own net. The Andalusians made it all square again soon after the restart, Juan Rodríguez beating Calatayud after Hidalgo headed the ball in to his path, and the keeper had to be at his best to keep out a shot from outside of the area by Gerardo a few minutes later. But with five minutes to go a long shot from Paunovic caught Arnau off guard, ensuring the three points for his side.
