Betis continue to pay the price of their Champions League campaign, and they failed to climb out of the bottom three after drawing 1-1 against Cádiz. Injuries to their forwards meant that Serra Ferrer had to put out a makeshift side, with Edu and Xisco forming the front pairing. But they took the lead early on when Marcos Assunçao connected with Edu's cross to poke a shot inside the near post.

Assunçao came close to adding a second when his shot cannoned back off the bar, but the visitors were also causing problems for the local defence, and Doblas had to save twice from Iván Anía before the break.

Betis were left a man short though when Rivera picked up a second yellow card ten minutes after the restart, and Jonathan Sesma should have equalised soon afterwards when he headed straight at the keeper when free in front of goal. But with a quarter of an hour to go Doblas brought down Estoyanoff in the area, and Manolo Pérez converted the resulting penalty. Two more points lost in the Ruíz de Lopera stadium, and the Andalusians ended the weekend in next to bottom spot.
