Sevilla kept in touch with the leaders after coming back from two down to score three late goals and beat nine man Real Sociedad 3-2. The visitors had not won in seven games, but they got off to a good start with Nihat heading against the bar early on. And Gabilondo and Nihat both went close again before Labaka got on a Xabi Prieto cross to head down past the keeper.

Just before half time Real were left with ten men when Cifuentes was shown a second yellow card, but even so they went further ahead in the second half when Garitano got on the end of Gabilondo's free kick to steer a header past Palop. Kanouté had a goal disallowed for a previous foul as the home side threw everything forward, and with a quarter of an hour to go they pulled one back through substitute Kepa after good work by a battling Saviola.

By then Amorrortu had taken off his forwards to defend the lead, butwith ten minutes still left Kanouté got on the end of a Jesús Navas cross to head wide of Riesgo. A few minutes later a second yellow card for Garitano left the visitors without both of their new signings from Eibar, and with the game coming to an end Riesgo misread Daniel Alaves's outswinging cross, allowing Kepa to nip in and head the winner.
