Zaragoza came back from two goals down to beat Athletic Bilbao 3-2, a result which left Javier Clemente's side just above the relegation spots. The Basques had not lost in the Romareda stadium in seven years, and they got off to the best possible start when Lacruz powered a header through the hands of César from Yeste's free kick midway through the first half. And just two minutes after the restart Yeste headed a long ball on into the path of Etxeberría for him to drive home a second goal.

Up to that point Zaragoza had hardly troubled Aranzubia, but just a couple of minutes after the second goal Casas hauled down Diego Milito as entered the area, and referee Ramírez Domínguez pointed straight to the spot. It was the first penalty that Víctor Muñoz's side had had in their favour in well over a year, but Ewerthon had no problems tucking the ball past the keeper.

After that the locals got back in the game, and a magnificent run by Cani found Ewerthon, who rode a tackle and fired a shot inside the keeper and the near post from a tight angle. And with a quarter of an hour to go Diego Milito struck the winner after beating the keeper to Cani's cross. The crowd celebrated in style, their side now back in the top half of the table after taking ten points from their last four games.
