Osasuna's run of nine home wins in a row came to an end when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Racing Santander. Luis Aragonés was in the crowd at the newly named Reyno de Navarra stadium to watch Ricardo and Raúl García amongst others, and the ex Manchester United keeper was in action early on to stop an effort from Antoñito. The locals took the lead though when Delporte bent a free kick wide of Aouate, and Josetxo came close to increasing the lead when he headed wide a few minutes later.

With the first half coming to an end though, Antoñito levelled the scores after picking up a pass from debutant Damìa, who had come on in the tenth minute to replace the injured Casquero. The locals pushed forward after the restart, referee Fernández Borbolán upsetting the home fans waving away a penalty appeal when Moratón handled in the area. Webó, Romeo and Delporte all put Aouate to the test without avail, and the visitors could even have won it in the end when Aganzo and Matabuena both headed wide. New year, new ground name, but a bad start to 2006 for the Pamplona based side, who nevertheless still remain in second spot despite the result.
