Celta returned to winning ways after a run of three defeats in a row in the league and a disappointing home draw in the cup, beating Real Sociedad 1-0 on Sunday evening. The Galicians got off to a good start, Baiano testing Riesgo and Placente shooting into the side netting with the goal at his mercy before Canobbio opened up the scoring with a long shot. And Riesgo did well to save from Canobbio before the interval, and Baiano put another good chance over the top after the restart as the home side kept up the pressure.

The visitors were missing Nihat, who is expected to be transferred within the next few days, and they had no reply. Amorrortu brought on new signing Stevanovic and young forward Agirretxe, but their only real effort was a Mikel Alonso free kick which Pinto saved without too many complications. The home fans would have liked one more just to be sure, but in the end it didn't matter as Celta moved back up the table to eihth, just a point now outside of the European spots.
