Cádiz moved out of the relegation zone after beating Getafe 1-0, their first win in ten games. After their gruelling cup match midweek, Víctor Espárrago made seven changes to his side, with Mirosavljevic and Medina leading the attack. The two combined early on for the latter to bring a save out of Calatayud, and the keeper was in action a few minutes later to stop another effort from Enrique. Pachón came close at the other end after Riki set him up, and Medina got the ball in the net only for it to be ruled out for hands. A few minutes later the ball hit another hand in the same area, but this time it belonged to defender Matellán, and Mirosavljevic stepped up to tuck away the resulting spot kick.

The chances continued for the rest of the first half, Calatayud saving from Benjamín and Riki heading just wide. Estoyanoff tested the keeper again after the restart, and Gavilán came close with a shot on the turn. But gradually the opportunities dried up as the two sides tired, and neither keeper had much work later on. Both teams ended the game with ten men after Belenguer was shown a straight red for sending Estoyanoff crashing over the touchline, and the Argentine midfielder joined him in the same incident after picking up a second booking for retaliating. But Cádiz had their second home win of the season in the league to add to their cup win over Sevilla, and the crowd celebrated as if they had won the championship.
