An injury time strike from substitute Rubén Castro gave Deportivo a 0-1 victory against Betis. Both sides needed the win, the home side to move away from the danger zone and the visitors to close up on the European spots, and the game stated well, with De Guzman heading off the line after an inswinging corner came off the back of Juanma, and Munitis being brought down outside of the area by Doblas at the other end as he advanced on goal.

The best chance of the first half though came when Víctor hit the foot of the post with a long shot, Doblas saving well on the follow up. Dani put Molina to the test after the restart, and Joaquín headed another good chance wide with five minutes to go. However the game appeared to be heading for a draw when Rubén worked free of his marker and connected with Romero's cross to steer a low shot wide of the keeper. The result takes Depor back up to fifth, and leaves Serra Ferrer's side just two points above the drop zone.
