Leaders Barcelona were beaten 2-1 by Osasuna in the last game on Sunday night, a result which consolidates Javier Aguirre's side in fourth spot. The locals had not won at home since their ground changed it's name to the Reyno de Navarra stadium at the beginning of 2006, but they started well, Puñal firing a shot over the top and David López whipping another effort past the post early on. And with just over twenty minutes gone they took the lead, a shaky Víctor Valdés dropping a David López free kick at the feet of Valdo, allowing him the easiest of tap-ins.

Barça were showing the strain of their midweek Champions League game against Chelsea, and their only chances before half time where an effort from Eto'o and a free kick over the top from Ronaldinho. Belletti tested Ricardo with a long shot after the restart which the keeper punched clear, but soon afterwards the home side went further ahead with a controversial Puñal penalty after Milosevic fell to ground under a challenge from Edmilson, referee Pérez Lasa sending off the Brazilian after showing him a second yellow card.

Rijkaard had to go for broke though, and he brought on Larsson for Giuly a few minutes later. Almost immediately the Swedish striker came close to scoring after picking up a pass from Ronaldinho to shoot wide, and five minutes after that the two combined for Larsson to pick up Ronaldinho's through ball and turn a shot past Ricardo. Iniesta came on later on and had another shot saved by Ricardo, but when Motta was also sent off in the final minutes for a hard tackle on Webó to leave his side with nine men it was all over.
