Sevilla moved up to fifth place despite a 1-1 draw at home to a Mallorca side who are still unbeaten since new boss Gregorio Manzano took over six games ago. The Andalusians were on high after reaching the last eight of the UEFA cup midweek, and they pegged their opponents back right from the start. Dragutinovic put a couple of efforts over the bar, Luis Fabiano headed just wide and Saviola had a goal disallowed for a borderline offside. Palop had to be at his best to keep out an Arango header with a spectacular one-handed save at the other end, but almost immediately Saviola got on the end of a Jesús Navas cross to beat Prats on the near post and open the scoring.

Pereyra headed wide for the visitors after the restart, and Prats saved from Saviola in reply. With no further scores on the hour mark though, Manzano went for broke, throwing on two new forwards Víctor and Okubo. And it couldn't have worked better, Víctor cutting in from the left a few minutes later to cross in and force Palop to push the ball in to the path of Okubo for him to equlise. After that the visitors held on, with Prats in particular keeping out Saviola and Martí, for another valuable point in their battle for survival. Sevilla ended the day seven points off the Champions League spots, this being curiously their first draw in seventeen games.
