Racing Santander were dragged back into the relegation struggle after losing 1-0 to Betis, and although they are still in twelfth place they are only six points above next to bottom Cádiz. Manolo Preciado's side were up against it after Pinillos was sent off on the hour mark for a foul on Joaquín, and Edu (who had already hit the post in the first minute) got what was to be the winner a few minutes later after good work by Dani. The young striker had a goal controversially ruled out by the referee at the end, but by then it was all over and Betis move out of the drop zone as a result.
