An unexpected result in Pamplona, where hosts Osasuna dropped to fourth in the table after a 0-4 thrashing at the hands of Getafe. Bernd Schuster's side gave an early warning of what was to come when Diego Rivas shot just wide early on, but the hosts could have taken the lead if Webó's header had found the target at the other end. Ten minutes before the break though Gavilán's corner was headed on by Pulido for Paunovic to open the scoring, and just four minutes later the visitors were two up when Vivar Dorado rolled the ball in to the net after Ricardo could only push out a shot from Gavilán.

There was more action before the break, Vivar Dorado shooting just wide and Puñal and Webó both trying their luck for the locals. But eight minutes in to the second half Getafe were three up, Paunovic getting his second of the evening after running on to Alberto's through ball to shoot across Ricardo. Aguirre threw on an extra attacker, but it made little difference and with just under an hour gone Paunovic and Gavilán combined to set up Pernía for a fourth, the left back's tenth goal of the season.

Osasuna still went for a late consolation, with Raúl García shooting wide, Milosevic having an effort tipped over the bar by Luis García and Webó having a strike cleared off the line by Pernía. But there was no way through, and the visitors picked up another three points to reach a total of 43, which even the demanding Schuster must feel is enough now for another season in the top flight.
