The postponement of Sevilla's match due to a waterlogged pitch meant that Deportivo had a chance of ousting them from the UEFA cup spots, but in the end they failed to do so after drawing 1-1 at next to bottom club Cádiz. The rain was also falling heavily at the Ramón de Carranza stadium, but the visitors mastered the conditions early on and youngster Iago gave them the lead from Víctor's corner in the eighth minute.

De Guzman had a couple of occasions to extend the lead either side of half time, but the Canadian midfielder was sent off for a second bookable offence with the second half only a few minutes old. The locals couldn't take advantage though until six minutes from the end when the referee awarded them an indirect free kick in the area, ruling that Manuel Pablo had passed back to Molina intentionally, Lobos picking up a short pass to fire the ball in to the net. But even though Depor had Manuel Pablo sent off as well for a second yellow card, Cádiz could do no more, and they drop even further in to the relegation zone.
