Getafe still have an outside chance of making it up to the European spots, and they ended the weekend just three points behind Sevilla after a 1-3 win at Racing Santander. The Madrid based side were on top for most of the first half, Vivar Dorado and Alberto both testing Aouate before Riki opened the scoring ten minutes before the break. But Antoñito equalised after Felipe Melo set him up just three minutes later, and Luis García had to be at his best to keep out the ex Sevilla striker soon afterwards.

Bernd Schuster's team restored the lead on the hour mark though, Riki cutting in from the right past a couple of defenders before scoring his second of the night. And Pernía wrapped things up with a free kick late on, his tenth goal of the season. It was another defeat for Racing, who have now only picked up two points from their last six games, and coach Manolo Preciado handed in his resignation later in the evening. Nando Yosu was named caretaker manager once again, a popular appointment as he has already saved the Cantabrians from relegation three times in the past. Can he make it four?
