Goals:
1-0. 09. Ronaldinho. Curled first time shot past Limia from Belletti cross.

Barcelona defeated Cádiz by the narrowest of margins, but the Catalans have to put the champagne on ice for a bit longer. The only goal of the match arrived in the ninth minute. Belletti surged down right and his low cross was cracked high into the net by Ronaldinho.

Jonathan Sesma thought he had Cádiz level a minute later but celebrations were cut short by the linesman's flag. In fact, with a little more luck and concentration Sesma might have been celebrating a first half hat-trick. The attacking midfielder squandered a great chance after being picked out by Vella and Sesma then saw Valdés spectacularly tip over a powerful 20 yard effort.

Although Barça will be pleased with three points that edged them closer to the title it was a night to forget for Samuel Eto'o. The Pichichi was denied on several occasions by the heroics of Limia in the Cádiz goal. Eto'o was well marshalled by the Andlaucian defence in a first half where Cádiz had their fair share of possession. But on the hour mark Eto'o looked hesitant with a spot kick after Berizzo clipped Van Bommel in the box. Limia guessed correctly and blocked the shot. The Argentine goalkeeper also saved well from a Ronaldinho free kick and was later relieved to see the same player fire just over ten minutes from time.

Cádiz are scrapping for survival and remained in the game right to the death. In fact, they might have taken away an unexpected point had Valdés not come to his side's rescue with a point blank save from an Oli header with only three minutes to go. There was still time for more Eto'o angst as Limia saved again after the African star looked surprised to find he was onside and clean through on his Argentine adversary.

Goals may have been in short supply and the "Culés" must wait to celebrate another league title but the return of Xavi from long term injury provided the icing on another sweet weekend in the Camp Nou.
