Real Sociedad picked up an important point in their fight to avoid the drop in a 2-2 draw at Cádiz, a result which leaves the Andalusians struggling in next to bottom spot. The hosts got off to a promising start, but found themselves behind when Xabi Prieto got on the end of a string of headed passes to volley a first time shot past Limia. For the rest of the first half though Víctor Espárrago's side carved out chance after chance, but firstly Riesgo, and then Alberto after the young keeper went off with a head injury, kept out the yellow swarm. Sesma, Lobos and Varela all had efforts frustrated, and Pavoni rattled the woodwork to no avail.
Just two minutes after the restart though the Basques went further ahead, Garitano steering a header wide of Limia from a left sided corner. Cádiz didn't give up however, and Estoyanoff ran through after Morán's quick throw to fire a shot low past Alberto. Oli had a headed goal disallowed by referee Esquinas Torres for a borderline offside after Enrique's effort came back off the bar, but with the game coming to an end the home side were gifted a penalty after Esquinas ruled that Cifuentes had handled in the area, and Lobos drove the ball home to keep their slim hopes of survival alive.
