Second Division B - play-offs, finals, second leg

Racing Ferrol are the first side to be promoted to the second division despite losing 1-0 to Alicante in the second leg of the group C final. The Galicians return to the second flight at the first attempt thanks to a 2-0 win in the first leg. It was hard work though, the referee disallowing two goals and turning down a penalty appeal in favour of the locals early on before Capi opened the scoring on the half hour mark. Visiting keeper Queco Pina was once again the hero after the restart, and the home side were unable to get the goal they needed to force extra time despite hitting the woodwork more than once later on. Sevilla Atlético finally made it up to the second division at the fourth attempt after beating Burgos 1-0 in the group A final. The Sevilla B side should have wrapped things up in the second half when they dominated play and hit the post, but in the end the visitors held on to take the game into extra time. Team captain Lolo headed the winner though following a corner to add another page to the Andalusians' best ever season.

Córdoba return to the second division just two years after going down, the Andalusians drawing 1-1 at Huesca in their group B final to go through 3-1 on aggregate. For a few minutes though the home side were close to an epic turnaround, Camacho heading them into the lead on the night and then the referee turning down a penalty appeal after Pierini appeared to handle in the area. On the stroke of half time though he awarded a penalty the other way after Sorribas handled, Dani converting the kick, and the midfielder should have wrapped things up when Falcón saved a second penalty late in the second half.

Rayo Vallecano will have to wait another year after they lost their group D final 2-0 to Eibar. A one goal lead from the first leg was cancelled out when Alaña fired a free kick past Alberto midway through the first half. And just three minutes later ex Rayo midfielder Eneko Romo headed in Codina's cross to put the Basque side ahead in the tie. The result means that two of the four sides who were relegated last season have won their way back up. (24.06.07)
