With two matches still to go, the new leaders are currently Getafe. Bernd Schuster's team finished off a disappointing week for Osasuna, who were knocked out of the Champions League by Hamburg only a few days earlier. The Madrileños were looking to repeat their 0-4 win from last season, but the only chance of the first half (other than a turned down penalty appeal at each end) was a shot from Valdo which Getafe's new keeper Pato Abbondanzieri dealt with without too many problems.

The visitors opened the scoring though with their first shot on target, Celestini surprising Ricardo with a long shot which squeezed in on the near post. Osasuna pushed forward, but Abbondanzieri was on great form and kept out two efforts from Puñal and another from Milosevic. And with a quarter of an hour to go Casquero picked out Nacho with a through ball and the winger made it two. It could be a long season in the Reyno de Nvarra stadium this year!
