Only one match on Saturday night this weekend, with Deportivo La Coruña moving to the top of the table after beating Villarreal 2-0. Capdevila put the Galicians ahead in only the fourth minute with a long shot from wide out on the left, and they could have scored a couple of times in the next few minutes, Cristian testing Viera and Juan Rodríguez shooting just wide.

The visitors didn't manage a shot on goal until Aouate blocked a close range effort from Riquelme a couple of minutes after the restart, but Guille Franco should have done better with a header which he directed straight at the keeper. Only three minutes later Capdevila got his second of the night after the visiting defence failed to clear a free kick, and the game was as good as over.

Villarreal did have a couple more chances after that, Riquelme failing to turn in a long cross on the far post and Aouate tipping a hard shot from José Marí over the bar. But for the third game in a row Pellegrini's side had failed to score, and they now find themselves floundering near the bottom of the table.
