Levante were one of three sides not get off the mark in their first two games, but they beat Recreativo Huelva 0-1 to move off the bottom of the table.

Coach López Caro was already under pressure to get a result, and his side had the better of the first half, with Ettien going close twice. The hosts responded with a shot just wide of the post from Rosu, but Marcelino was not happy with his attack and brought on new signings Sinama-Pongolle and Javi Guerrero early in the second half.

They were unable to make much of impact either however, and with six minutes to go Alexis headed the ball up past López Vallejo after Kapo had played back a corner to open the scoring for the visitors. Even so Cheli could still have saved a point for his side in injury time, but he shot wide with only the keeper to beat.
