Deportivo drop to sixth in the table after losing 2-0 at Levante, who move up to within a point of their opponents. The home side opened the scoring in the seventeenth minute when Kapo drilled a long free kick past Dudu Aouate and in off the post, but other than a mistake by the Israeli keeper (who had just managed to squeeze this game in before the start of Yom Kippur), there were virtually no more scoring chances in the first half.

The hosts were left with ten men when Berson was shown a direct red card, supposedly for something he said to a linesman, but even so Depor hardly created any work for Molina, who was making his first appearance for his new side, as luck would have it against his old one. Riki, Arizmendi and substitute Estoyanoff did try their best without too much success, and Aouate had one save to make from Riga's header.

With a quarter of an hour to go though Kapo pulled down a long cross from an active Ettien and slotted the ball past the keeper for his second of the night. And before Depor had time to react, they too were left with ten men when Estoyanoff was sent off for a high tackle from behind on Courtois. Caparrós was not a happy man!
