Recreativo Huelva are proving to be the revelation side at the early stages of the season, and they stay in seventh place after beating neighbours Betis 2-0 with two goals in the last five minutes. If anything, the visitors had the better of a dull first half, Wagner in particular failing to find the target after a run by the rapid Odonkor. Only Cazorla was causing any problems for the Betis defence, and both coaches turned to their bench for solutions.

Xisco was the first to enter the fray for Irureta's side, and he should have done better when he shot wide with only the keeper to beat. But it was the Recre substitutes who won it in the end, Javi Guerrero setting up Sinama-Pongolle for the ex Liverpool striker to head past Doblas five minutes from the end, and Guerrero himself forcing a shot past the keeper for the second. The result leaves Betis just a point above the drop zone having lost four of their first five matches.
