Sevilla moved above Real Madrid to third after a 1-0 win over Getafe. The only goal of the game came on the half hour mark when Luis Fabiano turned Renato's free kick past Abbondanzieri. The strike inspired the Andalusians, who had several opportunities later in the first half. But Bernd Schuster's team fought back after the restart, the coach bringing on fresh legs in the form of Güiza, Nacho and then debutant Albín, and they were in with a chance of a point right up until the final whistle.
