Bottom club Real Sociedad confirmed their worst ever start to the season after losing 2-0 on a rainy night at Levante. The heavy downpour, particularly in the second half, caused problems on a pitch already damaged by a Bruce Springsteen concert a few days ago, and conditions at times were virtually unplayable. Ettien still managed to produce a run from his own half though with Meyong Zé finished off with an angled shot just wide of the post, and Ansotegi headed another effort just wide of the mark at the other end.

With six minutes to go to half time though Levante went ahead following a corner, Bravo only able to parry Ettien's strong header allowing Meyong Zé to hook the ball back in to the net for his first goal in La Liga. The rain and a well ordered defence prevented the Basque side from coming back after that, and with the second half coming to an end Tommassi forced his way past two or three defenders and crossed in for Courtois to wrap things up. The result was a blow for new coach Miguel Angel Lotina, who was in charge for only the second time since taking over from José Marí Bakero a few days ago.
