Sevilla sit proudly at the top of the table after beating Osasuna 2-0. Cameras returned at the Sánchez Pizjuan to see the Andalusians take advantage of Barcelona's draw the night before to overtake them in the table. Visiting keeper Ricardo was not going to be beaten easily though, and he made several first class saves before the break, including a triple stop from Kanouté, Adriano and Javi Navarro following a corner. But the Navarrans hardly troubled Palop at the other end, only a couple of free kicks from Puñal giving him any work.

Five minutes after the restart the locals finally made the breakthrough after Corrales brought down Renato in the area, Kanouté converting the spot kick for his eighth of the season in the league. Ricardo was in action a couple of times again to keep out Kanouté before Adriano got the second on a rapid counter-attack, this time Kanouté the provider with a square pass. Alves almost increased the lead when he hit the post late on, but by then it was all over, leaving Osasuna without a win now in all competitions in nine games.
