Betis moved closer to escaping the drop zone after a last minute 2-1 win over Levante, only the second time this season they have taken all three points. Irureta's side were more confident though after their midweek cup win, and Edu headed them in to an early lead from Miguel Angel's wide free kick.

But Riga and Kapo both tested Contreras, and with just over an hour gone Riga equalised after good work by Ettien. It looked as if honours would be shared, but Capi picked up a ball in midfield in the last minute of normal time to run on and fire home the winner. The visitors ended with ten men after Alvaro was sent off for a vicious tackle on Maldonado in injury time, and they finish the weekend in thirteenth place.
