Deportivo lose ground on the teams above them after a 0-1 defeat at the hands of local rivals Celta. The locals had the better chances early on, with Riki going close a couple of times and Sergio having a penalty appeal turned down. But Baiano caused some problems for the local defence, in particular with a shot just wide with only the keeper to beat.

Caparrós lost Arizmendi to an injury before the break, but decided to go for broke, bringing on Taborda at half time. Verdú did his best to open things up, and Pinto was in action a couple of times. But Nené had a penalty waved away at the other end, and with just over a quarter of an hour to go the Brazilian winger controlled a lifted cross from Aspas before rolling the ball under the feet of the advancing Aouate.

Depor tried their best to come back, but their challenge ended when Lopo was sent off after picking up a second booking near the end for diving in the area. Celta had their fourth away victory of the season, and their hosts fell to their first home defeat after four wins and a draw. A tense game all round though, and there were incidents between rival supporters after the match ended.
