Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by Levante on Saturday evening, and they could be off the top spot by the end of the weekend. With one eye on Tuesday's Champions League game against Werder Bremen, Frank Rijkaard left Ronaldinho and Márquez at home and rested other key players. And it didn't seem to matter when Giuly and Deco went close a couple of times early on. The locals tested Valdés with efforts from Riga and Nino, but shortly before half time Deco curled a free kick past Molina to open the scoring.

Levante came out well in the second half and Valdés was called upon several times, especially after López Caro brought on Ettien and Kapo. Rijkaard decided to pull off Giuly and then Deco, and substitute Ezquerro almost caught out Molina with a chip which the keeper pushed on to the post. But soon afterwards Valdés could only push out a long free kick from Kapo, and Alexis turned the ball across goal for Alvaro to score from close up. Barça had taken their eye off the target, and the hosts earned themselves a valuable point.
