Valencia's season is going from bad to worse, and they fell to a third defeat in a row at Recreativo. Aitor put the Andalusians ahead with less than a minute gone after Cañizares could only push out Javi Guerrero's shot, and Guerrero could have increased the lead had he been able to control the ball in front of goal soon afterwards. David Silva could have equalised when he broke through, but a late tackle by a defender caused him to shoot wide with the goal at his mercy.

Cañizares had to keep out a header from an active Sinama-Pongolle close to half time, but López Vallejo was also in action to stop Angulo after the restart. Quique Flores was short of resources due to a string of injuries, and in the end he gave a run out to Tavano. But with ten minutes to go Sinama-Pongolle raced out of midfield to round Cañizares and score Recre's second, taking the Andalusians up to fifth pending Sunday's games. Valencia have now gone six league games without a win, and Quique flores needs to turn things around quickly for the Chés have any hope of Champions League football next season.
