Espanyol beat Getafe 0-1 to hand Bernd Schuster's side their first home defeat of the season. Pato Abbondanzieri kept out several efforts, in particular from Chica and Tamudo in the first half, and from De la Peña after the break, and Kameni was in action at the other end to stop a long shot from Manu Del Moral.

But the locals were left with ten men when Casquero was shown a second yellow card for diving in the area, and a few minutes later Tamudo got on the end of Rufete's cross to score what was to be the only goal from close up.

Numbers were evened up when Chica was also sent off for a second bookable offence, but the visitors held on for three points which takes them level with their opponents in the top half of the table.
