Sevilla rounded off their best ever calendar year with a resounding 4-0 victory over Deportivo on Wednesday. The Andalusians were on top right from the start, Daniel Alves rattling the crossbar and Luis Fabiano hitting the post early on. And with just under half an hour gone, Dudu Aouate failed to hold on to Luis Fabiano's cross, allowing Kanouté to score the easiest of goals from a yard out.

Palop was finally called upon to save from Juan Rodríguez before the interval, but Sevilla went further ahead after Capdevila brought down Luis Fabiano in the area, Kanouté converting the resulting penalty for his fourteenth of the season, taking him clear at the top of the Pichichi chart. Just two minutes later Luis Fabiano headed home a Daniel Alves free kick to make it three, and Alves himself completed the rout with a fourth from a direct free kick.

The victory takes Juande Ramos's side four points clear at the top pending Barcelona's match on Thursday, and leaves Depor without a win in nine games. Fans are already calling for the head of coach Joaquín Caparrós.
