Atlético Madrid are just a point outside of the Champions League spots after a comfortable 1-3 win at Celta. Javier Aguirre's side were on top right from the start, with Agüero pulled up for a non existent offside and Fernando Torres going close before Torres won himself a penalty after being tripped by Tamas. The young striker's spot kick was saved by Pinto, but the ball fell kindly for him to head it back in to the net.

Atlético kept up the pressure, Agüero and Galletti just failing to find the target, and Pinto pulling off a first class save from Maniche. And a few minutes later Torres got his second of the night after latching on to a pass by Agüero to shoot past the keeper inside the far post. Celta's only reply was a couple of timid efforts by Canobbio and Baiano either side of half time, and soon after the restart Agüero made it three after turning in a cross from Torres.

Aguirre took of his two front men after that, and Nené got a late consolation for the home side near the end after a team passing move. And although Nené and Baiano did test young keeper Pichu after that, the result was never in doubt.
