Osasuna bounced back from their defeat at Real Sociedad last week to thrash Betis 5-1 and move up to eighth in the table. Soldado went close in the first minute, and a quarter of an hour later he poked a shot past Contreras to open the scoring after a good run by Corrales. Puñal made it two on the half hour mark with a shot which took a wicked deflection off Rivas, but Arzu got one back on the stroke of half time after controlling a pass from Capi before beating Ricardo.

The visitors tried their luck with a couple of long effort after the restart, but David López restored the two goal cushion with an impressive volley after Soldado chested back a cross from the left. A minute later the ex Real Madrid striker got his second of the night, and Ziganda gave him a rest to bring on Webó. And the new man got in on the act as well, heading home a corner for his side's fifth, and then just failing to beat a desperate Contreras with a chipped shot. It was a heavy first defeat for Betis's new coach Luis Fernández, and the Andalusians stay down in the bottom three.
