Getafe are back up to eighth after a 1-0 win over Celta, Bernd Schuster's side demonstrating that their epic cup victory over Valencia in midweek was not just a flash in the pan. With less than a minute on the clock they were in the lead, Manu Del Moral picking up a return pass from Güiza to curl a shot past Pinto. Baiano brought a good save out of Pato Abbondanzieri at the other end, but Pinto had to be at his best to keep out a del Moral header before the break.

Celta came out strongly after the break, with Gustavo López, Baiano and Nené all trying their luck. But Güiza was causing problems for the visiting defence, and when Contreras was sent off for a second bookable offence it was game over. Getafe had their first home win in five matches, and the Galicians drop further down the table having gone eight games now without a victory.
