A 0-0 result between Levante and Athletic Bilbao, a first point for new coach Abel Resino who took over at the Valencia based club midweek. Abel's opposite number was Mané, who took Levante up last season, and the first chance fell to his side when Aduríz failed to beat Molina when free in front of goal. A few minutes later Courtois thought he had scored, but after consulting with his assistants for two minutes or so, referee Medina Cantelejo decided to rule it out for offside.

Ettien tested Aranzubia later in the half, and the visitors had a couple more efforts, a header wide from Sarriegui and a Yeste free kick just off target before the break, and a shot from Javi Martínez which Molina kept out after the restart. But that was it, and both reach the half way mark of the season dangerously close to the relegation spots.
