Sevilla stay within a point of leaders Barcelona after beating Levante 2-4, a result which sent the Valencia based side down into the bottom three. The game took some time to get going, the only chance in the first half hour a cross from Kapo which almost sneaked in. But ten minutes before the break Alfaro and Kerzhakov combined for Kanouté to open the scoring, his sixteenth of the season in the league.

Palop had to be on his toes after the restart as the locals pushed for an equaliser, but Sevilla seemed to have wrapped things up when Kerzhakov got on the end of Alfaro's cross to score his first goal since joining the club in the winter, and then Tomassi put through his own net trying to cut out Alfaro's through ball.

Within the next six minutes though Abel Resino's side had had two back, Dehú heading in Harte's corner on the near post and Reggi getting on the end of Harte's free kick. For a few minutes the fans were hoping for an epic recovery, but Alfaro put in a claim for a more regular place in the side when he headed a Daniel Alves free kick in on the far post. Sevilla had their first league victory in 2007, and Abel has a lot of work to do if he is to turn things around.
