Deportivo moved safely up to midtable after beating Mallorca 1-0 in the Riazor stadium on Saturday evening, a repeat of their cup success against the Islanders a couple of weeks ago. There was a poor crowd on a cold night, and there was little football to warm them up, the only chances when Ibagaza shot wide for the visitors early on, and Cristian and Riki both went close at the other end later in the first half.

But with the first half coming to an end, Jordi pulled over Arizmendi in the area, and referee Iturralde González awarded a penalty which Estoyanoff converted. It was more of the same after the restart, with Arango shooting wide a couple of times for the visitors, and Arizmendi failing to turn in a good cross for the locals. But soon after Basinas drove another long effort wide of goal, Iturralde called it a day, and everybody went home to their warm houses.
