Sevilla stay a point behind leaders Barcelona after the Andalusians were held to a 0-0 by struggling Real Sociedad. Chances were few and far between, with Savio trying his luck early on and Kerzhakov having a penalty appeal turned down. The Russian striker came closest to scoring when he headed against the bar before the break, but with Kanouté out injured the locals couldn't find the route to goal.

Lotina had given new signing Herrera the striker role, but he was replaced early in the second half by Kovacevic who tested Palop with a header soon after coming on. Elustondo almost caught the local keeper off his line with a shot from just over the halfway line which bounced off the bar, and Luis Fabiano had a couple of timid efforts at the other end.

In the end though a dull match, with a result which didn't do much good for either side. Sevilla ended the game with ten men after substitute Duda was shown two yellow cards in quick succession, the first for handling the ball and the second for diving. That just about summed things up.
