Getafe faltered at last after their excellent start to 2007, a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Racing Santander leaving them back down in eighth spot. The only goal came in the seventh minute when Garay got above the defence to head a Munitis free kick past the league's leading keeper Pato Abbondanzieri, the defender's fifth of the season. Güiza went close at the other end soon afterwards, but Pato did well to keep out a flick from Munitis and a Garay free kick before the break.

Munitis felt himself unlucky not to be given a penalty by referee Lizondo Cortés early in the second half, and the ex Madrid and Depor forward burst through soon afterwards only to see Pato make a reaction save from his shot. Zigic shot wide, and Paredes deflected another effort just over his own bar. A good result for Racing who move up to a more than acceptable ninth, although the bad news was that Zigic and Munitis both picked up their fifth bookings of the season, meaning they will miss the next game in the Nou Camp.
