Recreativo have been blowing hot and cold recently, and they drop back to eighth after losing 2-1 at Levante. The locals' new signing Salva was to make the difference, running on to a long ball from Rubiales to lob López Vallejo and open the scoring early on, and then heading a Manolo cross past the keeper close to the break. In between Riga had an effort saved by López Vallejo, and Cazorla shot over the top at the other end.

A few minutes after the restart Recre were awarded a penalty when Dehú hauled down Sinama-Pongolle from behind, the ex Barça defender earning himself a red card into the bargain. Molina saved Viqueira's spot kick, but referee Rubinos Pérez ordered a retake due to the encroachment of local players, and Sinam-Pongolle took over penalty duties with success. New coach Abel Resino immediately took off Salva to defend the lead though, and they held on for the rest of the 90 minutes.
