Celta manager Fernando Vázquez breathed a sigh of relief after his side beat fellow UEFA cup participants Osasuna 0-1 to clock up their first win in 12 games, although results elsewhere means they still occupy the last relegation spot. The only goal of the game came early on, Baiano getting on the end of Gustavo López's cross to head wide of Ricardo with only two minutes gone. And for the next five minutes or so the Galicians caused further problems for the local defence.

After that though Ricardo virtually had nothing to do, especially after the visitors were left with ten men when Canobbio picked up a silly second booking for trying to prevent a quick free kick five minutes before the break. Pinto saved from Raúl García and Soldado after the restart, and Cuéllar and Miguel Flaño both went close. But even after Ziganda replaced three defenders to end up with a 1-6-3 formation there was no way through, and Vázquez can take his side into next Thursday's game against Spartak Moscow with a bit less pressure.
