The Andalusian derby between Betis and Recreativo ended without goals, a result which kept the visitors in seventh place and took the locals two points clear of the drop zone. The first real opportunity didn't arrive until close to half time, when a long shot from youngster Juande was turned away for a corner by López Vallejo. Sinama-Pongolle hit the side netting early in the second half, but otherwise the remaining chances fell to the home side, with Xisco and Pancraté heading wide, López Vallejo making important saves from Pancraté and Dani, and referee Rodríguez Santiago turning down an appeal for a penalty after Barber handled in the area. Just a point though for Luis Fernández's side, who clocked up their third score-less draw in a row.
