Last week's joint leaders Sevilla were held to a 0-0 scoreline at eighth placed Getafe, and they drop two points behind Barcelona as a result. None of the top four have won in the Alfonso Pérez stadium this year, although Sevilla looked like they might early on. Luis García (replacing the suspended Abbondanzieri) did well to tip a Pôulsen header over the bar within the first minute, and the stand-in keeper also saved from Luis Fabiano and Renato a few minutes later.

But Palop was also in action at the other end, stopping efforts from Güiza and Sousa before the break. Things died down after the restart though, the only real chance a late effort from Belenguer which Palop kept out. A good point for Schuster's side though in their 100th game in the first division, and they have still only let in three at home all season.
